ORIGIN
OF THE NAME 'FRANCH'
Many
years ago Dr. Samsen Papli was involved in the
flourishing courier business in India. Most
International courier companies such as DHL, UPS
and others could not set-up their own operations in
India due to governmental restrictions. Dr. Samsen
had set-up a company in Madras India, to facilitate
the movement of documents in and out of India by
working with international courier companies. The
company was called; Franchise Courier Services Pte
Ltd; to reflect the representation as franchise
holder for these companies.
Dr.
Samsen had pursued his interest in Ayurvedic Health
Care and obtained his doctorate from a renowned
university in Sri Lanka. He spent many hours
researching and one specific area interested him a
lot i.e. the miraculous powers within the castor
plant. After years of research he had succeeded in
formulating a perfect multi-purpose oil which could
be used for a variety of ailment. His discovery was
tested by many. His final work was sent to the
University of Madras, Bio-chemistry department for
evaluation and after much clinical trials came up
with flying colors. Dr. Samsen decided to
commercialize his invention after patenting
it.
After
securing some partners and funding through his
courier company, he decided to venture into his own
production by setting up a new GMP factory known as
Motherland laboratories Pte Ltd. During a company
brain storming session to find a suitable name for
his invention, many names were thrown in and shot
down. Someone from the floor simply said why don't
we just name it Franchise OIL following the courier
company name which was already well recognized in
India. Everyone liked it but the only problem was
that it was too long. After much deliberation, it
was decided that the name be shortened from
Franchise OIL to just Franch OIL .
